Long before there was an internet JetFlix TV founder Henry Tenby was filming flight reports. In this video we join Henry for a flight on Olympic Airways 737-200 SX-BCI from Athens old airport to Larnaca, Cyprus in September of 1994.

We took many Olypmic Airways flights during the 80s and 90s, all inter island services. B737-200, B727-200 and even an A300 one time to Crete.
You hit the service bang on. In addition to questionable in flight catering the crews were generally a miserable lot. One particular trip as we were boarding ,open ramp, the Captain was hanging out his window yelling at passengers as to which hand luggage was acceptable and which was not. Having said that we always arrived safe. And for the most part we traveled on reduced rate ID90 tickets, standby.
That is great to hear Don, did you ever get to fly on Olympic’s Boeing 707 or 720 aircraft on the routes from Europe into Athens? Back in the 1980s and 1990s non revers used to use the ID90s. A term that has fallen out of the present day lexicon I believe. I too was a nonrever back in the 1990s, when I worked for NWT Air. I was chasing rides on Boeing 707s looking for the flights in the AOGs in our interline office. I had so little time off I only managed a few trips a year. Like your visits to Greece they were the good old days.
In answer to your question of 2 years ago, which I sadly missed the answer is no. We did try the morning OA B707 flight to Istanbul on an ID90 but the flight was full. We managed to get authority to non rev on KLM to IST, a little tricky as they had no carriage rights between those 2 cities. Ah, the good old days.
