The Avroliner RJ85 and its earlier sister the BAe 146 is a unique aircraft when it comes to short-haul inter-city airliners. With a relatively wide body cabin and flour jet engines, the Avroliner serves a special niche that not too many other airliners can match. The ability to operate from short runways with obstructions and provide superior comfort levels that far exceed turboprop and other regional jets is what the Avroliner does best.

So JetFlix TV set out to sample the Cityjet service on their prime yield routes, which happens to be between London’s City Airport in the heart of the London financial district and Ireland’s largest city which is Dublin.

The flight time is approximately one hour between the two centres, and Cityjet offers their Avroliners on the route with two to three rotations each day, at fares that would be considered to be very competitive by US or Canadian domestic standards. And of course, it goes without saying that the friendly onboard service is exactly what you’d expect from Irish airline, which is one of the friendliest countries you could expect to visit.

We were able to purchase out return flight between London City Airport and Dublin for under 70 Pounds including all taxes and fees. With pre-planning it is very easy for any serious aviation fan to take advantage of this amazing flight value when visiting London or Ireland. We booked a mid morning departure from London City, with a 5pm same day departure from Dublin back to London City.
