Details

This US Air Force publicity film dates from 1968 and presents the viewer with an overview of the interesting topic of historic photo and film documentation during war.

During the Vietnam war in 1968, we visit with the 600th Photo Squadron photographers who flew in strike and attack aircraft on live sorties to document bombing, strafing runs, and napalm drops.

We are also shown how podded under-wing cameras on F-4 Phantoms, F-100 Super Sabres and F-105 Thunderchiefs recorded bombing accuracy on sorties conducted over North and South Vietnam, as well as MiG kills with 20mm cannon fire and missile strikes.

The 24 minute film closes with Douglas AC-47 Dragon gunship action, B-52 heavy carpet bombing operations, and C-141 Starlifter footage. All in all, a very interesting story of the technique of camera and film work as it pertains to war reporting.
