Very few films on the Berlin Airlift was made in glorious kodachrome colour. Simply because the cost of such film was so expensive and it was in very short supply.
American Overseas Airlines in the 1940s post war provided trans-Atlantic air links between points in Europe and the continental United States.
They also participated in the Berlin Airlift with their cargo configured Douglas C-54 DC-4 aircraft. As such, American Overseas Airlines produced this promotional film from 1948 to educate the folks back home in the US of their amazing efforts to maintain freedom to the people of Berlin during this historic blockade by the Soviet forces during the expansion of the iron curtain.

Fascinating, and great footage!
Pretty rare to see Berlin Airlift footage in colour. There is a lot of black and white footage out there. So this is a bit special. Thank you Carl.
Thank you Carl, there are quite a few Berlin Airlift films out there but this one is kind of special as it was made by American Overseas Airlines, instead of the government newsreels. American Overseas basically existed only in the late 1940s and was then more or less absorbed into the proper American Airlines around 1950 or 51 I think. They also operated Connies and Stratocruisers. A first class operation! Their second rung planes were the C-54s and they were relegated to the Berlin Airlift.
