In May of 2013, JetFlix founder Henry Tenby visited Air Transport International to document some of the final flights of their DC-8-62 passenger combi prior to replacements with newer 757 aircraft. Henry Tenby spent several days filming their DC-8-62 operation in California prior to the aircraft’s final departure from the Continental United States. This market the end of the line for worldwide passenger carry scheduled DC-8 operations.

In this episode number 1, ATI DC-8 Maintenance Enginer Robert Dobler takes us on a nose to tail familiarization tour of the DC-8, starting in the flightdeck and ending with a detailed exterior review. In between he explains all the systems of the DC-8 and demonstrates the flap and spoiler with a live system test of the thrust reversers. This video would be required viewing for anyone seeking a working first-hand maintenance perspective of the reliable systems and features that made the DC-8 a safe, reliable and successful jet airliner for over 50 years.
