Frankfurt-Main Airport Spotting from the new Nordbahn location

JetFlix creator Henry Tenby takes us to the fantastic new plane spotter’s location at Frankfurt-Main airport at the centre point of runway 07L/25R for some excellent landing and taxi action. Back in late 2015 the airport opened a brand new viewing grandstand for the spotters to see well above the fence, so ladders are not necessary. And the action is pretty much non stop all day long from sun up to sun set. Henry Tenby filmed this action in November of 2015 when the viewing platform was brand new.
To access the FRA Nordbahn location on foot from the terminal arrival level simply walk westwards on the Airportring road on the sidewalk and pass the Lufthansa Aviation Center and Training buildings. At gate 23 turn right and cross the bridge over the Autobahn A3. Then take the next left onto the farm track that runs parallel to the Autobahn, walk under the taxiway bridge and continue until you see the newly constructed spotting platform to your left. It is an easy 3.5 km walk and takes about 30 minutes.
Or take bus number 751 from Terminal 1and exit at “Tor (gate) 26”. The bus ride is 10 minutes. From there cross the road and walk over the bridge of the Autobahn A3 to the location.

I have enjoyed the close-ups especially. It’s great that one can read most of what’s painted onto an aircraft’s side – specific type, registration, and unique names that some airlines still adorn their planes with. Also fun to see the waving cockpit crews.
Thank you Dieter! I love visiting FRA Main airport as it is so friendly for aviation spotters. And there are so many excellent spotting locations around the airport. I have been going to Frankfurt every November for the past 20 plus years to attend the airline collectible and slide collecting shows that always take place the first weekend of the month. It has become a tradition for me, and I meet so many of my fellow aviation enthusiast friends over there each year. Visiting the airport for spotting and filming is part of that tradition.
