Air Age Distribution of the 1960s filmBack in the early 1960s air cargo was still a relatively young industry, but still full of promise. This short film was made to educate shippers that cargo could cost effectively go by air instead of via slower surface routes. At the time, new first generation jetliners like the Boeing 707 and Douglas DC-8 were replacing prop driven airliners at the main airlines, and the propliners still had plenty of life remaining.

Therefore, many propliners like DC-6s and Lockheed Constellations were still relatively new aircraft, and they found themselves relegated to the new task of carrying freight instead of passengers.

This film explains the economics of shipping by air freight and was made to educate manufacturing companies and logistics managers of the day. So we decided to present the first half of the film which featured aircraft and airport scenes. The second half of the film had no aviation footage at all so we did not included it in our presentation here on JetFlix.
