Nor-Fly Convair 440 Metropolitan Club Mid 1980s Pleasure Flight

Details

Back in the 1970s Nor-Fly was a Norway based ad-hoc charter airline that operated a former Finnair Convair 440s LN-MAP and LN-KLK within Europe. By the early 1980s their operations had reduced significantly but Convair 440 LN-KLK was taken over by a group of aviation enthusiasts to operate fan trips under the new banner of the “Metropolitan Club”.

This club was operational during the mid to late 1980s and this historic video celebrates a typical aviation enthusiast fan trip on this amazing aircraft. It is believed that this Convair 440 LN-KLK ws purchased from SAS in 1975 and taken over by the Metropolitan club in 1984, and then retired from flying in 1989. The aircraft is now preserved at the Stavanger Sola Flyhistorik Museum.

Great air to air footage on this one. The old Convair’s were really cool airplanes.

I agree! I was amazed to see this air to air footage on their Convair 440 when I first saw this video. Had no idea it existed. It is too bad there is not a single piston engined Convair Twin that enthusiasts can fly on as passengers today. It was almost going to happen with the South African Convair but that ended tragically.
