World Airways was an Oakland, California based charter airline that was born in the 1950s, and by the mid 1960s was a very active player in the international passenger jet charter market.

This promotional film was made by the company to promote the professionalism of their services, circa 1967, at a time when the company had recently introduced new Boeing 707s to its fleet.

The airline provided ongoing military service personnel transport throughout the Vietnam War moving servicemen between the mainland US, Hawaii, and South East Asia. Holiday makers will remember the airline for their role taking sun seekers from the mainland US to Hawaii in the 1960s through to the 1980s, and to Europe in the summer months.

This period film shows the airline’s administration office, maintenance base and flight attendant training activities at Oakland airport, as well as highlighting World Airways charter operation.
