This film dates from 1952 and was produced to extol the benefits of moving cargo and time sensitive materials by air. This was shortly after the end of World War Two and the commercial aviation industry was still very much in its infancy. Air cargo and its potential to benefit many aspects of daily life was not widely appreciated yet by the general public. And this black and white film from 1952 provide a snapshot look back at the very days of the air cargo market.

An odd but interesting film.
Odd, because most of the action involves British aircraft and scenes, yet has a commentator with a thick American accent talking as if Britain is his home country.
Interesting, because of the wide variety of 1950s aircraft.
I remember the Speedpak that sometimes accompanied a flight on a Constellation.
I noticed that too, it is quirky isn’t it. Sometimes here in Vancouver on the radio we have adverts with people using thick British accents, it sounds more posh and trustworthy. So to see the opposite is different in this film. But I suspect in the 1950s, an American accent in the UK was deemed as posh and professional, so that could be the reason why they went that “route” … no pun intended!
