This is a lovely promotional movie made by Pan American Airlines to promote their newly opened Jet Port at New York Idlewild Airport circa 1960. At the time Pan American was transitioning from the propliners of the 1950s to the jet age with the introduction of Boeing 707 and DC-8 jetliners. And it was appropriate that a new state of the art airport terminal building be constructed at their primary gateway airport in New York.
Keen observers will note the film provides a comical black and white introduction showing how chaotic air travel was in the old prop plane era. It then transitions to colour to show the luxury and conveniences of modern jet travel at their new Jet Port circa 1960s.

Great movie! My first flight, as a nine year old in 1961 was on a SAS
DC-8 from Idlewild. Returning on a Pan Am 707 to this very Jet Port, remember it clearly!
H Martin, I am very happy to hear you enjoyed this old Pan American airlines promo movie. It is before my time so I have no such memories. It is really fantastic history you were part of. I only had one flight on the real Pan Am .. a 747SP ride from SFO to HNL in the mid to late 1970s. When I was around 10. It has hard to believe Pan Am has been gone for so many decades now.
