Spectacular Netherlands Aerial Scenic: Electric flight to Leeuwarden AFB Part 1
Details
Sustainable aviation by non petroleum based fuel sources will be the leading driving force for aviation in the coming decades. JetFlix Reporter Niels Dam has been tasked by the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure to document two electric aircraft flights, the first of their kind in the Netherlands.
During a Dutch Government supported special event highlighting the possibilities of environmentally sustainable transportation models (which took place between July 1 – 14 2018), the residents of the Dutch province of Friesland were challenged to move about their region using fossil-free means for a two week period.
During these two weeks there were many sustainable events related to transport, and our reporter Niels Dam lead the aviation effort for the “Elfwegentocht” which is the project group responsible for the events.
During the first day of July 2, 2018, Niels equipped two general aviation aircraft with GoPro cameras and 360 cameras. The first flight took off from Lelystad airport, which is approximately a 40 minutes flight from Leeuwarden Air Base. In the scenic video we join pilot Job Snel from iFly.eu onboard their Pipistrel Alpha Electro aircraft. It’s promising to be electrifying!
